Elena Baltacha

British number two Elena Baltacha was outclassed by fellow Briton Anna Smith in the second round of the Barnstaple Open on Thursday.

Smith easily beat the world number 135 6-2, 6-1 to reach the quarter-finals.

Top seed and British number one Anne Keothavong had a convincing victory as she beat Ukraine's Yevheniia Savranska 6-4, 6-2.

British number three Katie O'Brien is also through. The number six seed won 6-3, 6-1 over Czech Andrea Hlavackova.

O'Brien will face Keothavong in the semis on Saturday if both win their quarter-final matches on Friday.
