Petrova secures Cincinnati title

Russia's Nadia Petrova clinched her first title for 18 months by beating unseeded Nathalie Dechy 6-2 6-1 to win the Cincinnati Open on Sunday.

The second seeded cruised to victory in 70 minutes for her eighth career title but her first since February 2007.

Dechy had beaten fellow Frenchwoman Amelie Mauresmo in the semi-finals, but came unstuck against Petrova.

Petrova broke serve three times in each set to deny Dechy victory in her first WTA Tour final since 2004.
