CI ladies win league promotion
Comprehensive victories over Shropshire and Cumbria have secured promotion for the Channel Islands' over-35 ladies tennis team.
Their victory in the Over-35s Inter-County LTA 2008 Championships saw the team move up into Division 5A.
They lost only one of their eight matches during the two days of competition on Friday and Saturday.
Sunday's match against the Isle of Man was cancelled with their opponents unable to field a team due to injury.
The team comprised Clare Randall, in her final match as captain, and Jo Robinson from Guernsey alongside Jersey's Emma Davenport, Shelagh Herbert and Rebecca Edwards, who was making her debut.
Outgoing captain Randall received a special award for her 22 years of Channel Islands tennis. Davenport takes over captaincy of the side.
