CI men achieve historic promotion
The Channel Island's men's team has been promoted at the LTA's County Cup for the first time in 26 years.
The team has always been in the bottom group of the county structure since achieving county status in 1982.
The islands beat Staffordshire 5-4 in the deciding match to finish second in Group Seven behind Avon.
The islands' men won three matches and lost two, including to Avon on Thursday and the Isle of Man in the first stage.
There was no such good fortune for the ladies team in their Group Six campaign.
They lost all five of their matches and were relegated to Group Seven.
