Keothavong progresses in Stanford
British number one Anne Keothavong is through to the second round of the Bank of the West Classic after a 7-6 (7-4) 6-1 win over India's Sania Mirza.
The 24-year-old Brit had to qualify for the event in Stanford, California but had little trouble in beating last year's runner-up.
Keothavong broke her opponent early in the first, eventually winning the set in the tie break.
She raced through the second, dropping just one game on her way to victory.
