Injury strikes

Murray's rise up the rankings came to a sudden and dramatic halt in Hamburg.

Playing on his 20th birthday, Murray was leading Italian Filippo Volandri 5-1 at the Rothenbaum Tennis Centre when he screeched in pain after hitting a forehand.

The injury, which increased fears that Murray's body was too frail for a world-class player, would rule him out of the French Open as well as Wimbledon.

"Go and ask Michael Owen if I am injury prone. After a year and a half without any injuries, I've just had a bad run."
