Murray and Mirnyi out of doubles

Max Mirnyi and Jamie Murray

Britain's Jamie Murray and Belarusian playing partner Max Mirnyi suffered a disappointing defeat in the doubles semi-finals at the Pacific Life Open.

The pair, who had beaten the Wimbledon champions and world number one team in the previous rounds, lost 6-3 6-4 to Israelis Jonathan Erlich and Andy Ram.

Muray and Mirnyi went 3-0 down early on in the first set and dropped serve immediately in the second.

Erlich and Ram face Daniel Nestor and Nenand Zimonjic in the final.

"It's a disappointment for Murray," said 5 Live's David Law from Indian Wells.

"He's arguably enjoyed his most successful week as a doubles player.

"No, he didn't win the title or even reach the final, but this was the furthest he's ever been in a Masters Series tournament and he beat the Wimbledon champions and the top seeds along the way."
