Djokovic thrashes Murray in Miami

Andy Murray Britain's Andy Murray was humbled 6-1 6-0 by teenage rival Novak Djokovic in the Miami Masters semi-final.

The much-touted clash of the 19-year-olds never got going as the in-form Serb completely overwhelmed a sluggish-looking Murray.

The 10th seed, who also beat Murray in the Indian Wells semi-finals earlier this month, broke the Scot five times as he romped through the last 11 games.

It was a superb tactical display from Djokovic, who won in just 62 minutes.

The Serb served well and used great shot selection - with his drop shot especially effective - to subdue Murray.

But Murray was uncharacteristically out of sorts as he slumped to his heaviest defeat so far on the ATP Tour, with his backhand in particular constantly misfiring.

"It's the worst match I've probably played since I've been on the Tour"

After both players held their opening serves, Murray was 0-40 up on his opponent's serve but Djokovic managed to hold and the Scot was unable to carve out any further chances as the match raced away from him.

Djokovic now has a 3-0 career record against Murray.

Murray was suffering with an ankle injury when he lost in straight sets to Djokovic earlier this month but he refused to blame his physical condition this time around.

"It's the worst match I've probably played since I've been on the Tour," admitted the 12th seed.

"He played better than me today. I wasn't very good so no excuses.

"I gave him a lot of free points. He played a great match and hardly made any unforced errors.

"He serves well, he's solid on the return, he moves good. He does everything pretty well. He deserves to be in the top 10.

Guillermo Canas

"I had my chance at the start of the match to break him. Maybe if I had got myself ahead I could have got a bit more confidence in my shots."

In the final, Djokovic faces Guillermo Canas, who beat Ivan Ljubicic 7-5 6-2.

Canas, who beat Roger Federer for the second time in a fortnight to reach the quarter-finals, is the first qualifier to get this far in the tournament.

"I'm feeling great to be in the final," he said. "I will try to beat a sixth seed in a row.

"But Djokovic plays very well. He has a lot of confidence. He made the final in Indian Wells and now he is in the final here.

606: DEBATE

"I think it's going to be a tough match for me. But really, I feel very confident in my game. I know if I play well, I have a chance to beat him.

"I will just I try to do my best and tomorrow I'm going to start thinking about the final. But today, I will try to enjoy what I did."

Victory would make Canas only the second unseeded player to win this tournament after Tim Mayotte, who won the inaugural event in 1985.
