Hantuchova wins second tour title

Daniela Hantuchova Daniela Hantuchova took her second career title with victory over Svetlana Kuznetsova in the final of the Pacific Life Open in Indian Wells.

The Slovakian, whose only other tour success came at the same event in 2002, capped a fine week with a 6-3 6-4 win.

Hantuchova, 23, broke straight away to lead 2-0 and although she let her advantage slip, another break allowed her to take the first set.

And one break in the second was enough to wrap up victory in 83 minutes.

Both Hantuchova's WTA singles titles have come at this tier one event at Indian Wells.

And she admitted: "This is even sweeter, just the feeling of being able to win the same tournament.

"I know people have been saying that I haven't won a tournament since 2002, but if I had a choice I would much rather pick this one than some little tournament."

"I was just so confident from the first point and I didn't really think about the score"

She added: "I had exactly the same feeling like I had against Martina (Hingis) in 2002. Not for one second did I not believe in myself.

"I was just so confident from the first point and I didn't really think about the score."

She joins an all-star cast who have won this tournament twice, comprising Mary Joe Fernandez, Martina Navratilova, Steffi Graf, Lindsay Davenport, Serena Williams and Kim Clijsters.

Kuznetsova admitted: "I was too far behind to win the match.

"Daniela was playing very good, all credit to her and I have to work on some things in the future."
