Coria crushes Melzer to progress

Guillermo Coria Guillermo Coria raced into the fourth round on Saturday with a 6-1 6-1 7-6 win over Austria's Jurgen Melzer.

The Argentine eighth seed, runner-up in 2004, needed just one hour, 54 minutes to win through to the last 16.

Melzer was blitzed in the first two sets but put up more resistance in the third. However, Coria maintained his concentration to win the tiebreak.

He now plays 12th-seeded Russian Nikolay Davydenko who hammered Tommy Haas of Germany 7-6 6-0 6-0.

Argentina's Mariano Puerta reached the last 16 with a four-set victory over Switzerland's Stanislas Wawrinka.

Puerta saw off Wawrinka 1-6 6-3 6-1 6-4 to set up a fourth-round clash with fellow Argentine Jose Acasuso.

Acasuso, who beat Andy Roddick in round two, went through when Filippo Volandri retired at 3-0 down in their match.
