Martin Hingis continued her return to form with a 6-2 6-0 demolition of Alexandra Stevenson in the Nasdaq-100 Open Masters.
The Swiss player needed just 56 minutes to dispose of the American and move into the quarter-finals.
And fourth seed Kim Clijsters bounced back from injury to win through in straight sets.
Clijsters, this year's Australian Open semi-finalist, made light work of Zimbabwe's Cara Black, taking 75 minutes to triumph 6-4 6-2 on Monday.
Clijsters had missed much of the last six weeks because of a damaged arm but looked untroubled by the injury against Black, currently 75th in the WTA rankings.
The result went some way to make up for the Belgian's first-round exit against France's Nathalie Dechy in Indian Wells last week.
She now faces either fellow Australian Open semi-finalist Monica Seles or Italian Silvia Farina Elia in the next round.
