Can it be done?
Beckham has set his team mates an ambitious target to give Fergie a fitting farewell and seal an unprecedented quadruple trophy successes.
With the arrival of Ruud van Nistlerooy and Juan Sebastian Veron, United have again been installed as Premiership favourites.
But are they capable of sweeping the board, both domestically and in Europe?
Are United unbeatable? Or is Beckham's confidence unjustified?
United will only be unbeatable if they score more goals than the opposition. This may sound obvious, but they are going to concede a lot of goals this season. Celtic shredded them to pieces out wide and United only came back into the game after Celtic had replaced their entire team with under-21s.

I think Man Utd going undefeated is a bit of a stretch, but there's no doubt that Beckham et al, will give everything that they have to provide Fergie with the swan song that he deserves. This will be unlike any other season for the Red Devils. It's the ending of a total and complete legacy. Talent can go an extremely long way, but combined with passion and heart, who knows what will come about?

This is yet another example of the Man Utd arrogance, and yet another reason for every supporter of every other Premiership club to hate them. Man Utd will lose at least three games this season, probably one or two more considering that Chelsea and Arsenal have bought well, whilst Liverpool have proved to be the side Man U hate to play.

No team can possibly remain unbeaten throughout the whole season. Injuries and suspensions, let alone twists of luck in front of goal, mean that an unbeaten season in the Premiership on its own, is highly unlikely. I think Mr Beckham is insane to predict what he has.

Nothing is impossible in life and especially in football where everything can happen. With a bit of luck, Man Utd can achieve that goal. This is the best Reds squad I've ever seen so why not?

The thing Beckham has failed to realise is that every other club in the country realise it is Fergie's last season and therefore will be only too keen to spoil the party. Imagine the glory of being able to say that your team stopped the "unbeatable" United side in Ferguson's last season. Beckham's comments will look a bit flat when he ends up on the loosing side in the Charity Shield on Sunday!
Neil,
England
Comments like that will backfire and motivate even the bottom clubs to give everything to beat United. Man Utd are a top team, no doubt, but some of their players, especially in defence, are not in a class of their own. Going a season unbeaten and winning every competition they enter is a childish dream, especially in the Champions League.
Delano van Buuren,
Netherlands
I wouldn't bet against it. They certainly have the quality and enough depth in their squad. Ferguson has already hinted that he will effectively have two teams, one for Europe and the big Premiership matches against their closest rivals and then another team for lesser Premiership and Cup games.
A team with Scholes, Butt, Irwin, Chadwick, Silvestre, Cole and Solskjaer could win pretty much any game and if it's looking a little tight throw Giggs, Veron and Van Nistlerooy on for the last 25 minutes.
The only factor that they have no control over in Cup games is luck. If another moderate-to-good team, such as West Ham last year, is playing well and the a few decisions go their way they can still dump Man Utd out of a one-leg Cup tie.

The last time Beckham shaved his head he must have cut too close and removed half his brain!
Sat Sandhu,

Nobody is unbeatable, especially not Man Utd. Their display against Celtic showed defensive weaknesses that will prevent them from coming close to this impossible dream. I am in no doubt that they will win the Premiership and possibly one other trophy but the good fortune and amazing performances they required to win the treble in 1999 proves that Beckham's setting the bar a little too high this time.

The addition of Veron and Ruud van Nistlerooy makes Man United the best team in the Premiership but not in Europe. The Man Utd defence is still a suspect, beside Stam the rest are really inconsistent. The other problem is there are too many players in the midfield, and all are quality players. I hope that Fergie finds a way that will keep all the players happy. And whatever he does in midfield, he better make sure that Veron and Giggs start all games because they are the best players .

It would be very arrogant of any club to believe before the season had started that they can win everything. This sort of over-confidence can usually set you up for a big fall. As Liverpool fan I hope that the big fall comes sooner rather than later.
Stewart,
England
No chance. We dumped them out of the Worthington Cup easily enough last year and West Ham deservedly knocked them out of the FA Cup at Old Trafford.
Even with the usual Man Utd influence over the refs they won't win everything, we'll see to that even if no one else does.
Robin Whitwham,

United are a class act but every team has its off day so I believe they will be beaten and not just once either!
Jeremy Witt,
England
After all the cases of player fatigue experienced by teams simply playing domestic league and Champions League games, what chance do United stand playing two additional cups? Real Madrid will win the Champions League anyway!
John,
Spain
The divide between Man United and the other teams is shrinking. Liverpool, Arsenal, Leeds, Chelsea and maybe Ipswich will give them a strong challenge this coming season.
I breed and race whippets so I know about strong competition.

They'll need to be very lucky to get the clean sweep this year. Let's not forget they were only a penalty away from losing the FA Cup semi in '99 and were only five minutes away from losing the Champions League final. Surely they've used up their luck by now!
Steve Macphee,
Scotland
Surely Beckham is stating the obvious - everybody wants to win every game. Are there any teams that are planning not to try and win every game they play in. But can we do it? With the same luck we had in 1999 it's possible.
Andy,
Blighty
United unbeatable? Don't be silly.
Michael,
UK
To remain unbeaten for the entire season is near impossible. The United squad is much stronger than the '99 treble-winning team but to repeat those results we will need a bit of good fortune as well. Any team that could do what Beckham is suggesting United want to do this season would be the greatest team ever. Proving its going to be pretty tough.
Martin,
Ireland
There are two games that Man Utd will most definitely lose this season. Both will be against Leeds Utd, home and away!
Paul,
UK
In Europe, United's defensive naivety is exposed. Domestically, their attacking style is far too much for any of their challengers. Therefore, they will probably win the Championship and the FA Cup without breaking sweat, but they will not make it beyond the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
Sajaad,
England
Becks may have gone a bit too far with this one. I think the Champions League, Premiership and FA Cup treble could be on again as Man Utd's strength in depth is so strong. As for the Worthington Cup (or whatever its called this year) who cares?
Dave,
Manchester, UK
I agree with Beckham. Manchester United are more than
capable of winning all the trophies. They are most likely to win the European Cup and the
Premier League. If they field strong teams in the domestic cup competitions they
are quite capable of winning them.
Come on you Reds!
