Liberal Democrat leader Charles Kennedy visited a Sport Relief-funded project in London to see where the charity's funds are being put to work.

Mr Kennedy visited the Fitzrovia project, which brings youngsters together in a specially-organised football tournament.

The Camden Unity Cup was devised to break down the barriers created by rival gangs in the area.

"Sport Relief is a great initiative that combines getting active with raising money for those that really need it," Mr Kennedy said.

The Lib Dem leader met Jay and Rajin, who now help run the project having benefitted from the programme's scheme since its inception seven years ago.

He was told that the territorialism and rivalry that has existed in the area in recent years has slowly been eroded by Fitzrovia's work.

The Unity Cup is made up of teams containing players from all the different territories and ethnic groups represented in the area.
