In the Scottish Premier League, Celtic's home game with Motherwell, Rangers' trip to Kilmarnock and St Mirren's visit to Aberdeen have all been postponed.
The Scottish Football League have announced the cancellation of 13 of the scheduled 15 games.
All Division One matches have succumbed to the weather, while the Peterhead against Brechin City match is the only game to survive in Division Three.
Forfar versus Stenhousemuir, Clydebank's match with Queen of the South, Stirling Albion against Queen's Park and Stranraer's home game with Arbroath are all off in Division Two.
The SFA are wary of the difficulties fans face in travelling to games and their safety and insist inspections and decisions will be made early to avoid any wasted journeys.
"We don't want to make spectators make long journeys for no reason so we will be looking to make decisions early to avoid such problems," said an SFA spokesman.
"We would hope that it would certainly be done in that way for the SFL and SPL fixtures.
"Most clubs in the SPL have under soil heating, but because of the amount of snow to fall, particularly in south-west Scotland overnight, these problems are in the back of our mind."
All Premiership rugby matches are off.
