Union to advertise top position
The Welsh Rugby Union is set to launch a search for a new group chief executive to replace David Moffett.
Having originally claimed the role had become redundant, pressure from their member clubs has forced a rethink.
Ex-Wales and Cardiff fly-half Gareth Davies is an early favourite, but much will depend on the nature of the job.
It is not clear whether the new man will replace WRU chief executive Steve Lewis or whether Lewis and Millennium Stadium boss Paul Sergeant will remain.
"The structure is something the WRU will look at," said WRU chairman David Pickering after Sunday's Extraordinary General Meeting that had been forced on the board by its member clubs.
"We will take a good, hard look at the group chief executive position."
The failure to name a replacement after Moffett's surprise departure last December - and the failure to consult the clubs over that decision - was a major bone of contention.
Davies' CV includes a spell as Cardiff RFC chief executive, he is a former head of BBC Wales Sport, and he was chairman of the Sports Council for Wales.
He is currently Welsh Affairs Director of the Royal Mail Group and commissioning editor of S4C.
