Scots call-up for Edinburgh pair

Simon Webster and Matt Mustchin

Edinburgh pair Simon Webster and the uncapped Matt Mustchin have been called into the Scotland squad for next month's tour of Argentina.

Webster, who has 33 caps for Scotland, has been receiving treatment on a troublesome hamstring injury.

"Simon's had a difficult season with injury but he's an experienced international. I'm delighted he'll travel," Scotland coach Frank Hadden.

Back-row forward Mustchin, 31, has been drafted in for the lock position.

Mustchin, who qualifies for Scotland through the IRB's three year residency requirement, joined Edinburgh in 2005 and made his 50th appearance for the team earlier this season.

Hadden noted that his "abrasive qualities will complement our other second-row forwards on this tour".

Mustchin said: "Frank signed me for Edinburgh in 2005 and it's very much home for me and my family.

"I love the city and I've enjoyed my rugby here and being involved in coaching at club level with Murrayfield Wanderers."

Hadden has also asked Glasgow Warriors captain Alastair Kellock and Edinburgh lock Craig Hamilton to attend pre-tour training at Murrayfield next week.

The Scotland head coach is also monitoring the availability of Scotland's most-capped player, Scott Murray.

Murray, now with Montauban in France, has two home league matches against Bayonne and Clermont over the next two weekends and hopes to be released for Scotland's tour.

A final decision on the two vacancies will be made next week.

Scotland will play Argentina on 7 and 14 June.
