Bath have re-signed New Zealander Robbie Kydd on a one-year deal from Northampton Saints.
Kydd, 26, was previously based at the Recreation Ground in 2003/04, scoring two tries in eight appearances.
The versatile back told BBC Radio Bristol he was delighted to be back in the west country.
"Bath's a club that's got great ambition. Their results last year say that and there's no reason why they can't succeed," he said.
"I was sad to leave last time and am looking forward to getting out on the pitch. It's a bit weird being back but not much has changed."
Kydd says that he may look to stay in Somerset for longer than a year this time around.
"I love the club and I'll do my best this season and see what happens," he added.
Bath head coach Steve Meehan said he was pleased to have captured the former under-21 international, who can play at fly-half, full-back and centre.
Meehan said: "He is the sort of player whose attacking attitude and skills suit what we are trying to achieve."
Kydd will provide valuable competition for places with Butch James at the Tri-Nations and Ryan Davis out of action for longer than expected after suffering complications following knee surgery.
Meehan believes that Kydd has the desire to force his way into the starting XV.
"He provides us with cover at 10 and in other backline positions, but I know he will set out to make a starting position his own," added Meehan.
