Marshall is staying, insist Leeds

Leeds 25-14 Bath

Leeds scrum-half Justin Marshall Leeds director of rugby Phil Davies has dismissed speculation linking New Zealand scrum-half Justin Marshall with a move to Harlequins.

Reports in New Zealand say Quins hope to pounce as the 32-year-old has a contract clause which would allow him to leave if Leeds are relegated.

"He's got a contract here and we won't be going down," said Davies.

"He's got a two-year contract and can be linked with whoever he likes - he's not leaving here."

Marshall, the most-capped All Blacks scrum-half, joined from Canterbury Crusaders last summer.

He has 81 international caps as well as winning five Super 12 titles in a glittering career.

However, he has been unable to lift struggling Leeds and they are two points adrift at the bottom of the Premiership table.

Harlequins were relegated from the Premiership last year and with Marshall's former New Zealand team-mate Andrew Mehrtens pulling the strings at fly-half, they are riding high at the top of National League One with 14 wins from 14.

They have also been linked with a move for All Blacks skipper Tana Umaga.
