Leeds are not invincible - Jess

Matt Jess

Exeter Chiefs winger Matt Jess says that National League One leaders Leeds can be beaten, and thinks his side are the team to do it.

The Chiefs are three points behind Leeds in the table, despite having lost to them in September at Sandy Park.

"They're not invincible, we definitely know they're beatable and we're going to go up there and give them a good game," Jess told BBC Radio Devon.

The two sides are set to meet at Headingley on Saturday, 20 December.

"You see what the Cornish Pirates did at the weekend (losing 25-23), they nearly snuck a win which would be really good for us.

"They didn't get the bonus point and it shows on the league table that we're getting all of the bonus points at the moment.

"We want to grab our five points when we can so when it comes to December and we play Leeds we'll be in full flow to give them a good game"

"As long as we go into games picking up the five points, as we have been doing recently, it shows that we're catching up with Leeds and shows that Leeds can slip up throughout the season," Jess added.

But he says that the side is not solely focused on the fixture in Yorkshire next month, as they have to keep winning their games in the lead up to it, starting with a win over Coventry at Sandy Park on Saturday.

"We want to grab our five points when we can so when it comes to December and we play Leeds we'll be in full flow to give them a good game," he said.
