Vagas lose unbeaten home record

Rugby Union

Vagabonds lost their unbeaten home record in South Lancashire & Cheshire Division One after losing 6-3 to Sale on Saturday.

At half-time the score was 3-3 with a drop goal from Vaga's Jonny Beckley cancelling out a Liam Reeve's penalty.

In the second half the two sides were evenly matched until another Reeve penalty gave the visitors the points.

Sale are now fifth in the table while Vagabonds are eighth, level on points with Hoylake and Ormskirk.

In Division Two Douglas lost away to runaway leaders Warrington 25-16 after just two points had separated the sides at half-time.

Douglas' points came courtesy of a Ryan Maddox try plus a conversion and three penalties from Bryn Snellgrove.

"All credit must go to Douglas, they have not won away all season but certainly gave us a good game"
Steve Coleman

Having now won eight games in a row, Warrington coach Stew Coleman said: "All credit must go to Douglas, they have not won away all season but certainly gave us a good game".

Meanwhile Ramsey's remarkable run in Division Four continued with a convincing 25-13 victory over Merseyside Police.

The Merseysiders took an early 6-0 lead but Ramsey hit back with tries from Tynan Pritchard and Lance Wyllie plus a Fintan Cummins conversion to lead 13-6 at the interval.

In the second half Aneurin Pritchard crossed for two further Ramsey tries with Fintan Cummins converting both.

The Police bagged a late consolation try and conversion but by then the game was safe.

Ramsey are now joint-top the table after early pacesetters West Park Warriors lost to Linley.
