Launceston beaten in Birmingham

Launceston dropped to third in National League 2 despite a late rally in their 23-19 defeat at Birmingham & Solihull.

Tries from Jim Jenner and Reece Spee helped Bees open up a 15-9 half-time lead, the All Blacks' points all coming from the boot.

Mitch Culpin then crossed again to help the home side stretch clear at 23-9.

But, despite Scott Hobson's debut try, converted by Adam Staniforth, who added another penalty, the All Blacks came up four points short.

Mark Woodrow landed one conversion, along with two penalties, to help Bees up into fourth.

Birmingham & Solihull are at Blackheath on Saturday, while Launceston face a local derby with winless Mounts Bay.
