Former Jersey rugby player Matt Banahan has been called up to the England Saxons squad for this summer's Churchill Cup.
It is the first time Banahan, who plays for Bath in the Premiership, has been called up into an England squad for the 15 man code of the game.
"It's a great honour in my first season in the premiership," he said.
Banahan is a regular for the England sevens squad and is Bath's leading try scorer with 16 this season.
"I'm now on the stepping stone to the full England squad"
He told BBC Radio Jersey: "I'm concentrating at this time on Bath's last three games to win Bath some silverware.
"But I'm now on the stepping stone to the full England squad and I'm relishing the prospect."
Banahan began playing rugby at Jersey Rugby Club before turning professional.
The Saxons are effectively England's second team and tend to promote younger players giving them the chance to experience international rugby.
Banahan moved to Bath in 2006 after initially joining London Irish in 2005.
