Injured D'Arcy out of Six Nations

Gordon D'Arcy broke his arm against Italy Ireland centre Gordon D'Arcy will miss the rest of the RBS Six Nations after breaking his arm in Saturday's 16-11 victory over Italy.

D'Arcy was injured while tackling Italy fly-half Andrea Masi in the 26th minute of the match at Croke Park.

"Gordon suffered a stress fracture of his forearm and will have an operation on Monday. It is the end of his Six Nations," said coach Eddie O'Sullivan.

It is a huge blow to the Leinster man who had been keen to impress.

Questions had been asked about the form of D'Arcy and centre partner Brian O'Driscoll ahead of the new campaign.

With D'Arcy sidelined, Andrew Trimble could take the inside centre slot for the next match away to France.

The Ulster man switched to that position following D'Arcy's departure, with Rob Kearney coming on to play at winger.
