Andrew Henry, son of Wales coach Graham, will make his Cardiff debut against Neath in the Celtic League on Friday night.
The 20-year-old wing only arrived in the country three weeks ago and is a surprise inclusion in the Cardiff side, who can expect a tough encounter at the Gnoll from a resurgent Neath.
"I started training with Cardiff as soon as I got here and the guys have been really good," Andrew said. "They haven't treated me any different."
Henry junior can guarantee that his opposite number on Friday, Tongan Dave Tiueti, will also not treat the young Kiwi any differently, so the match promises to be a physical introduction.
"I wasn't expecting to play for the Cardiff seniors without playing any games here, but when there's injuries you make the best of it to get a foot in the door."
Andrew joined Cardiff on the recommendation of his father: "He thought this was the best club for me, with quite a few young players here it would have been easier to fit in.
"Obviously there's a bit of pressure being Graham's son, but I should try and thrive on that pressure."
As for his dad, the Wales coach is delighted to see his youngest son in Wales - and playing rugby.
"He has come here to complete a university course and he has always enjoyed rugby.
"I think it is a bit of shock to us all that he has been selected. He has obviously made an impression in training, there are some injuries and he has got his chance.
"We are delighted for him. It is a huge step up on the type of rugby he has played in New Zealand, and it will be a very good baptism for him at The Gnoll."
The Welsh supremo, and his wife Raewyn, will be hoping to be in Neath to watch the game.
"I have a bit of clash, a centenary dinner where I am a guest speaker, but I am hoping to marry the two things together."
Wing Henry is the only backline change from the side that lost at home to Connacht, although the backrow is all change.
Greg Kacala, re-signed this week, resumes his Cardiff career at No 8, Rob Appleyard switches to openside, while 21-year-old Dan McShane plays on the blindside.
The other change in the pack sees Craig Quinnell return at lock alongside John Tait replacing Adam Jones, who is out for a fortnight.
Cardiff include former Bristol forward Jim Brownrigg on the replacements' bench after he impressed in training.
As for Cardiff's Lions, Rob Howley, Dai Young and Neil Jenkins are expected to return to action next month, but Martyn Williams has had shoulder surgery will be out for six to eight weeks.
Iestyn Harris joins the squad on 1 September, and hopes to resume playing later in the month.
