Warrington coach Tony Smith has said his side need to improve their defending after losing 40-26 to St Helens on Saturday.
The reverse leaves Smith's charges 12 points adrift of the Super League leaders after 20 games.
He told BBC Radio Manchester: "Close-to the-line defending I think we should have been a little better in that area.
"Just a little bit of execution in our defending wasn't quite there. We need to go and patch that up for next week."
Smith added: "But still I thought there were some gallant efforts put in by the players.
"The boys dug in and you could tell as I thought there was some desperation and some real pride in our try-line."
