Wolves fail to rule out Myler bid

Richie Myler

Warrington Wolves chief executive Andy Gatcliffe has refused to rule out a move for Salford's Ritchie Myler.

The 19-year-old scrum-half has rejected a contract extension at the Willows and has been linked with the Wolves.

Gatcliffe told the BBC's Super League Show: "Rumours and speculation are bound to appear about Ritchie and many other players.

"You never say never, but in the real world you wait until something is concrete before you say something."

Gatcliffe added: "The Wolves always gets sucked into all these rumours and debates.

"When we have an announcement to make we will make an announcement, so it's far too early to say anything now."

Meanwhile Gatcliffe has revealed that the Wolves wanted the Super League salary cap to be increased.

The RFL has confirmed that it will remain £1.65m for the 2010 season after the 14 top-flight clubs voted on the issue.

"We are one of the clubs that are at salary cap level, I think eight of the 14 are currently at the level," explained the chief executive.

"So we wanted a small increase and that's how we voted as a club at the meeting.

"However the majority of clubs voted against, nine in all voted against.

"We respect that decision, we are one of the same and we all work together, so it's swings and roundabouts.

"But we have to make sure we all work towards getting every club up to salary cap level."
