McDermott signs new Quins deal
Coach Brian McDermott has signed a new three-year deal with Harlequins.
The former Bradford player had been linked with vacancies at Huddersfield and Warrington, but he extended his commitment at The Stoop until 2011.
"There has been a massive amount of hard work done over the last few years down here and I am really pleased to be seeing the job through," he said.
McDermott's future at Quins had been in doubt following comments he made after their 18-16 defeat by Catalans Dragons.
The former Royal Marine had questioned his side's commitment and desire after the Millennium Magic loss to the French side.
However, McDermott - who took over at the club in July 2006 - has been instrumental in the club's development of London-based players progressing to the senior side.
"His reputation as one of the bright young coaching talents in British rugby league is well deserved," said Quins chairman Keith Hogg.
