Hull's Chester switches to Rovers

Chris Chester Super League newcomers Hull Kingston Rovers have completed their recruitment ahead of the new season by signing Chris Chester from city rivals Hull FC.

The 28-year-old forward has signed a two-year contract and coach Justin Morgan says he will be his final addition to the squad for next year.

"He's a tough, creative player and will add a different dimension," he said.

"I'm really chuffed to get it sorted out and I can't wait to run out in front of a home crowd," said Chester.

Chester made in excess of 100 appearances during his five-year stint with the Airlie Birds but injuries, including Achilles surgery this year, restricted his opportunities.

He regained fitness towards the end of last season but was left out of the Grand Final squad and was allowed to look for another team despite having a year left on his contract.

Originally, the former Halifax and Wigan man expressed a desire to join either Wakefield or Castleford to be closer to his home, but eventually he opted to move to east Hull.

"To have the chance to play rugby week in week out helped me with the decision," he said.
