Hooker Danny Houghton has signed a one-year contract extension with Hull FC, committing his future to the club until the end of the 2010 season.
The 20-year-old made his debut in 2007 and established himself last season, making 24 appearances.
"I want to progress further in my career and this deal gives me more opportunity," said Houghton.
"The way I'm looking at it is that it gives me another year to improve my game and become an even better player."
He added: "I am delighted to have agreed this new deal, especially as this is the club I have always wanted to play for."
Chief executive James Rule told BBC Radio Humberside: "He's a true professional, very dedicated, trains exceptionally hard and really fits the culture of the place very well."
Hull head coach Richard Agar has predicted a bright future for Houghton.

Meanwhile, Hull are mourning the loss of former full-back Arthur Keegan, who died on Monday following a battle with Alzheimer's.
Keegan spent 13 years with the club after joining from Dewsbury Celtic in 1958 and went on to score 31 tries and kick 318 goals in 366 appearances.
He also won nine Test caps for Great Britain.
