Hull will wait for quality - Rule

James Rule

Hull FC say they are not in a hurry to bring in an overseas player despite the vacancy left by the departure of Australian scrum-half Adam Dykes.

The Black and Whites chief executive James Rule told BBC Radio Humberside they will not rush into a decision.

"It a case of signing quality. Clubs have made the mistake in the past.

"If there's a player we like the look of [we would sign them] but that doesn't mean because you have a space you have to fill it," he said

Dykes was released by Hull despite the fact that the 30-year-old still had one year to run on a two-year contract at the KC Stadium.

"If you sign a player now on a two-year deal and someone sensational becomes available at the back end of next season we won't be able to pick them up "

The parties came to a mutual arrangement that allowed Dykes to return home.

That fuelled the speculation that Hull would rush to fill their vacant overseas player slot.

But Rule added: "If you sign a player now on a two-year deal and someone sensational becomes available at the back end of next season we won't be able to pick them up because of the quota management."
