Burgess twins sign Bradford deals

Bradford

Bradford Bulls have given new three-year contracts to 17-year-old twins George and Tom Burgess.

The brothers will train full-time with the first team squad.

Bulls Coach Steve McNamara said: "They have probably developed quicker than I have ever seen a pair of young boys develop and I'm excited to sign them.

"There's still lot of development in them and they showed enough last year for us to give them the opportunity to train in a full-time environment."

The twins are the younger brothers of former Bulls and current England star Sam as well and Leeds forward Luke Burgess.

Both are hoping to follow in the footsteps of their siblings.

"We both know what we have to do to establish ourselves in the squad"

Tom said: "It's awesome to sign a full-time deal at Bradford and it feels good to have my future sorted.

"It's in our hands now, we just have to train hard and show the coaches what we can do. There was never any doubt that I wanted to stay here, I've been at Bulls since I was 16 and I've always enjoyed it."

George added: "It's great to know I'll be here for the next three years and we both know what we have to do to establish ourselves in the squad.

"It's going to be a big change from last year when we were still at college and only training in the evening but I'm excited."

Sam, who will join South Sydney after Saturday's Four Nations final, said: "They're getting into some good shape now and turning into fine athletes.

"I'll be keeping track of them while I'm in Australia."
