Thunder snap up hooker Henderson

Andrew Henderson

Gateshead Thunder have signed hooker Andrew Henderson from Super League side Castleford Tigers.

The 29-year-old leaves the Tigers after four seasons in which he captained them to National One title wins in 2005 and 2007, making 103 appearances.

A Scotland international, Henderson has seven caps and will bring Super League experience to the Thunder pack.

The move comes after Castleford re-signed hooker Ryan Hudson from Huddersfield Giants earlier this month.

Thunder will begin their first season back in National League One after winning the 2008 championship.

He was joined in celebration by players Stewart Sanderson, Ben McAlpine, Dan Russell and Michael Knowles who were all named in the League Two Dream Team.
