Reed victories give England boost
Danny Reed underlined his potential with two fine wins at the World Table Tennis Championships in Zagreb.
The 17-year-old Briton progressed to the main draw with victories over Kazeem Nosiru of Nigeria and Srdjan Milicevic of Bosnia and Herzigovina.
Cleveland's Reed, the world No 706, then faced 33rd-ranked Dutchman Trinko Keen and managed to take a set off him.
He was the only member of a young England team to win through to the first round proper in Croatia.
The squad now heads for the Commonwealth Championships in Jaipur, India.
