Willstrop & Duncalf in UK finals

World number three James Willstrop reached the final of the British Open after beating former world champion Thierry Lincou 11-7, 11-3, 11-7.

It is only the second time in 44 years that England has had finalists in both events in the tournament.

Willstrop will face another ex-world champion, Australian David Palmer.

Jenny Duncalf reached the women's final after the fifth-seed earned a 4-9 9-3 9-6 9-6 win over France's Isabelle Stoehr in Liverpool.

Lincou struggled against an opponent who produced an inspired performance.

"Hopefully I have given myself a chance for Monday," said Willstrop, with Palmer booking his spot in the final after Egypt's Karim Darwish retired injured.

"It is a bit of a big moment in a squash player's career. I'm looking forward to lifting the trophy but I don't know how it's going to be.

"My little scrawny muscles have not become big bulky muscles but have become stronger and more able to play high powered squash."

Duncalf had the best win of her career when she beat defending champion Rachael Grinham in the quarter-finals.

"Reaching the final is the highlight of my career," said Duncalf, who is the first English woman in five years to do so.

The 25-year-old will face Nicol David in the final after the world number one beat Natalie Grainger 9-5 9-1 9-0.
