John Higgins showed the form that won him two world titles as he beat Judd Trump 6-4 to reach the final of the Royal London Watches Grand Prix.
Trump, who beat Ronnie O'Sullivan in the previous round, won the first frame before Higgins compiled four successive breaks of over 50 to take charge.
Trump gave himself hope by winning three in a row, but Higgins sealed victory with breaks of 61 and 83.
Higgins will take on Ryan Day in the final after he defeated Ali Carter 6-5.
"I felt a little bit under pressure at the start of the match because he had nothing to lose, but I knew that if I could hang in there and get to five frames before him I could hopefully put some pressure on in the next frame," said Higgins, the world number five.
"Luckily I had a chance and played well in the last two frames to win the match.

"I'll be the favourite now to win the tournament but, whoever I play, it's going to be a tough match."
Higgins will be in his first final since winning his second world title at the Crucible in 2007.
Day, meanwhile, will hope to make it third time lucky having lost his previous two ranking finals, 9-4 to Shaun Murphy in Malta in 2007 and 10-6 to Dominic Dale, after leading 6-2, last season.

He went 1-0 behind after Carter opened up with a break of 107 but runs of 120, when he missed a shot at a 147 on the yellow, 62, 104 and 115 put him 5-2 in front.
But just as in his first two matches this week, against Ricky Walden and Mark Selby, Day was taken to a deciding frame as Carter launched an impressive fightback with breaks of 84 and 107.
However, the world number eight dug deep to win the final frame, which was, as he admitted, "very tense to say the least".
"I have had to dig out a few clearances to get through this week and Ali made a great break to get to 5-5, so I was just glad to get over the line," Day said.
"I came through two deciding frames earlier in the week and each time I have taken my chance when it came along."
Day ended Higgins' reign as world champion with a 13-9 second-round win at the Crucible in April this year, and admits he will have to be on top of his game to win again on Sunday.
"I need nine frames of good solid snooker," he added.
"I need to score well and my safety is going to have to be good because you can't afford to make too many mistakes against such a class player like John."
