Blackpool's Lynette Horsburgh feels her decision to switch from snooker has reaped dividends following her success in the World 8-Ball Pool Championship.
The 34-year-old Scotland international, who made the move five years ago, beat Barbara Taylor 8-6 in a tense finale at the Imperial Hotel in her hometown.
"I'm really thrilled," Horsburgh told BBC Radio Lancashire.
"It's an amazing feeling and to win in my hometown is a dream come true. I feel the luckiest girl in the world."
Horsburgh, who is a web producer for BBC Lancashire, disposed of the undisputed ladies number one and eight-times world champion Sue Thompson in the semi-finals.

"I had a completely different attitude this year," said Horsburgh.
"I worked on my break, which has been my main weakness in the past, with my boyfriend and when I wasn't playing I practised with the likes of Mick Hill and Marc Farnsworth.
"And getting some early nights certainly helped."
Partner Karl Boyes, a former World 8-Ball Cup champion who finished third in this year's Matchroom World 9-ball Pool Championship in the Philippines, arrived home from playing in Spain just in time to watch her win.
"I knew she could do it if she put her mind to it. I'll be calling her WC in future," said Boyes.
Horsburgh's win made it a Blackpool double in the World 8-Ball Championships, which attracted entries from throughout Europe, as well as South Africa and Australia.
Paul McGuire won the World Junior Championship after beating Frank Costello 8-2 in the final.
It means Blackpool now has three current world pool champions following Daryl Peach's success in the World 9-Ball Pool Championship in the Philippines in November.
