Peterborough Phantoms forward Brent Gough admits that staff may have to take lower wages in the light of the ice hockey club's failed takeover.
A deal which would have seen current owners Phil Wing and Rob Housden sell to a consortium fell through on Sunday.
Gough told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "We might have to take a bit of a pay cut here. I think we all want to stay.
"It's been a little crazy here the last few weeks. I think all of the players have been in the dark almost."
It was believed that the consortium, led by player James Morgan, had successfully acquired the club in late November.
However, Wing told the Phantoms official website: "We have not completed the sale but we wish to thank the proposed consortium for their interest and offer.
"Dave Lane and Simon Lamb remain proud sponsors of the club and James Morgan relishes the chance to focus on his playing career for the remainder of the season."
The Phantoms are having a promising season on the ice, currently sitting second in the Premier League having played five games less than table-toppers Guilford Flames.
Gough added: "We think we can win all three trophies. Everybody's sitting back and saying 'maybe we can actually pull this off'.
"We have a few games in hand on Guilford and we've got to make them count when they come up."
