Penguins give Thierren new deal
Stanley Cup finalists Pittsburgh have rewarded head coach Michael Therrien with a new three-year contract.
The Penguins went 47-27-8 during the regular season and advanced to the NHL finals against the Detroit Red Wings where they lost in six games.
General manager Ray Shero said: "We thought that, based on the success we've had together, it was time to negotiate a new deal."
It keeps Therrien behind the Penguins' bench through the 2010-11 season.
