Lounaos has Irish Champion option

Horse racing Lounaos, ante-post favourite for the Triumph Hurdle, may make a surprise appearance in this month's AIG Irish Champion Hurdle at Leopardstown.

"She will get quite a big allowance in the AIG, I think she would get 19lb," trainer Eoin Griffin told BBC Ceefax.

Griffin added of the 28 January race: "We are under no illusions at the size of the task she would face against Brave Inca and the others.

"I know its a big ask entering a four-year-old in a race like this.

"If we get there in one piece we'd be leaning towards it."

Griffin had indicated after his filly's festive win in a juvenile hurdle at Leopardstown that he would not run her in the Triumph Hurdle if the ground was fast at Cheltenham in March.
