Horse racing's Dubai World Cup will go ahead despite the threat of war with Iraq.
There were fears the world's richest race meeting, scheduled for 29 March, would either be postponed or cancelled.
But Les Benton, Dubai World Cup committee chairman, said: "The Dubai World Cup will go ahead, there is absolutely no doubt.
"Recent reports are totally inaccurate and incorrect. All systems are go for 29 March and we are looking forward to staging the most successful Dubai World Cup to date.
"We are anticipating a record number of overseas runners and the highest number of American entries for the event."
The seven-race meeting carries prize money of more than $15m, with $6m up for grabs in the World Cup race itself.
Several top golfers, including Tiger Woods and Colin Montgomerie, refused to play in last week's Dubai Desert Classic because of security fears.
Meanwhile, the Dubai World Cup has been withdrawn from the 2003 World Racing Series.
As a result, the Queen Elizabeth II Cup in Hong Kong on 27 April will be the first leg of the championship.
