British wheelchair star David Weir won his third London Marathon in a row after a perfectly timed late sprint to the line took him clear of his rivals.
Weir's time of one hour 33 minutes and 56 seconds beat Australia's Kurt Fearnley into second place with France's Denis Lemeunier in third.
Meanwhile, Switzerland's Sandra Graf set a new course record to win the women's race in 1:48.05.
Britain's Shelly Woods, the defending champion, came home in third place.
American athlete Amanda McGrory took second place as the rainy conditions made life difficult.
In the men's race a group of seven racers set the pace from the start and stayed together right around the course.
Weir started his sprint finish as they turned the final corner into The Mall and he powered away for his fourth title in all.
There was also drama in the final stages as South African Ernst van Dyk and American Joshua George, who were also part of the main group, clashed with only 100m left and crashed into the hoardings around the spectators stand.
The pair eventually finished sixth and seventh with Briton Brian Alldis taking eighth place with a new personal best time of 1:37.23.
Weir has had to battle back from several months out of the sport with glandular fever, but his incredible strength in the closing straight was once again too much for a high-class field.
"It was probably the best win I've had at London," Weir told BBC Radio 5 Live.
"I've not had the best build-up so it's a fantastic win for me.
"The London course suits me and I'm always glad if I'm there or thereabouts at the finish because I know I have a good burst of speed.
"The top 10 marathon racers in the world are all here and I'm probably ranked 10th so I'm delighted."
