Triple Olympic gold medallist Bradley Wiggins is looking forward to riding with new partner Geraint Thomas in the only event where he failed in Beijing.
Wiggins and Thomas will compete in the madison in the World Cup in Manchester from 31 October to 2 November.
"We're not going to be on worlds form or Olympic form but I think the rest of the world will be the same," he said.
Wiggins won the World Championships with Mark Cavendish in May but the duo could only finish eighth in Beijing.
Tour de France star Cavendish ended the Olympics as the only Team GB cyclist without a medal after Wiggins took gold in the individual and team pursuits.
Cavendish was left frustrated and the friends did not speak for months after the event but Wiggins told BBC Sport he had swapped text messages with his Olympic team-mate recently.
606: DEBATE"We had quite a heavy schedule up until then, with no rest. It was frustrating and disappointing but we knew going into it, that was the programme," explained Wiggins.
"I think for him it's a huge disappointment, as it was for me, although my disappointment was weighed out by the golds I had."
Fellow Olympic gold medallists Ed Clancy and Victoria Pendleton will also race in the three-day event in Manchester, the opening leg of the track cycling World Cup.
Triple gold medallist Chris Hoy will not compete but will make a guest appearance at the velodrome.

British Cycling events director Peter King said: "We are really looking forward to seeing some of the world's top track cyclists in action at the Manchester Velodrome."
The event is the first in the five-round World Cup series, which gives countries the chance to qualify for the World Championships in 2009.
The other rounds take place in Melbourne (20-22 November), Cali (11-13 December), Beijing (16-18 January) and Copenhagen (13-15 February).
Wiggins has already stated that he is likely to miss the 2009 World Track Championships in Poland in March and is set to compete in the Tour de France with his new team, Garmin-Chipotle.
"It was always planned that I'd walk away slightly from the track post-Olympics," he added.
"But that was more with a view to coming back fresh and hungry again for the next Olympics.
"It's the kind of event I enjoy doing. You can hide a bit more in the madison as opposed to the individual pursuit or the road where you're really on show."
