GB Olympians in squad for worlds

Geraint Thomas and Nicole Cooke with their golds

Gold medallists Geraint Thomas and Nicole Cooke have been named in GB's cycling team for the 2008 Road World Championships in Italy this month.

Emma Pooley, who took silver, is also in the initial list, which will be narrowed down before the event, which starts on 23 September.

Tour de France stage winner Mark Cavendish is in, as is Kenya-born Chris Froome, and David Millar returns

Bradley Wiggins has chosen to miss out following a busy season.

Elite men: Steve Cummings, Chris Froome, David Millar, Ian Stannard, Geraint Thomas, Rob Hayles, Russell Downing, Mark Cavendish, Dan Fleeman
