cycling

Roman Kreuziger took overall victory in the Tour of Switzerland, becoming its youngest-ever champion at 22.

The Czech 2004 junior world road race champion won the decisive mountain time trial stage on Saturday to effectively secure the biggest win of his career.

Germany's Andreas Kloeden of Astana was runner-up, 49 seconds back, with Spain's Igor Anton of Euskaltel third, nearly two minutes behind the winner.

Kreuziger of the Liquigas team will make his Tour de France debut in July.

"I've always liked stage races and I'm going there to learn more about major stage racing," he said.

"I'll take things day by day and if I'm still up there after 10 days I'll set myself a goal and then see what happens."

Sunday's 168kn final stage was won by Swiss rider Fabian Cancellara.

Tour of Switzerland final standings:
1. Roman Kreuziger (Cze/Liquigas) 35:43:46"

3. Igor Anton (Sp/Euskaltel) +1:55"
