Authorities raid Ullrich's home

Jan Ullrich The Swiss home of Jan Ullrich and other homes and offices of people suspected of involvement in the Spanish doping scandal were searched on Wednesday.

Ullrich's manager Wolfgang Strohband said that his and his client's homes were raided by German prosecutors.

Ullrich is on his honeymoon after marrying partner Sara Stainhauser and was not at home during the raid.

Strohband said: "I have contacted my lawyers and they will look at what steps can now be taken."

The headquarters of Ullrich's former team T-Mobile were also searched.

A team spokesman said: "We were of course co-operative."

Ullrich, the 1997 Tour de France winner, was sacked by his T-Mobile team during this year's Tour when a Spanish investigation alleged that he was involved in doping.

Ullrich is alleged to have been given the blood-boosting drug EPO, steroids and human growth hormone by Madrid-based sports doctor Eufemiano Fuentes, the alleged head of a blood-doping operation.

The German rider denies the allegations and claims he does not even know Fuentes.

German federal agents were also present during the searches abroad.
