Team Telekom's Jan Ullrich has had to postpone his comeback because of a sore knee.

The 1997 Tour de France champion had to pull out of the Tour of Murcia in Spain earlier this month because of injury.

Team Telekom doctor Lothar Heinrich said the German would not enter the Tour de la Sarthe in France starting on 9 April.

The 28-year-old has not fully recovered from a stress injury to his right knee.

Team Telekom sports director Rudy Pevenage said he was confident Ullrich, whose last race was in Qatar in January, would be fit for the Giro d'Italia starting on 11 May.
