Ross edged out in World Singles

Belfast man Jonathan Ross bowed out of the Potters World Indoor Bowls singles championship as he was beaten by his former world pairs partner Greg Harlow.

A low-scoring opening set was halved 5-5 as number two seed Harlow claimed a crucial late shot.

The second set was 4-4 before Harlow claimed five shots in four ends to earn a place in the quarter-finals.

"Looking back, Greg played a telling bowl on the third end of the second set," said 15th seed Ross.

"I was looking to take a count and he came in with an amazing bowl to count a double, and that boosted his confidence.

"It was a very containing game and we were both nailing it.

"I fell short a few times but only by a fraction, but the heads were so close that even the smallest margin was enough to let him count."
