Astros supporters salute Clemens

'The Rocket' pitched six scoreless innings and left the mound to a standing ovation with career win 348.

Clemens, 44, is scheduled to make two more road starts before the end of the season but has yet to decide if they will be his last before retiring.

"If I decide to come back and play, I have to be able to perform," he said.

"I don't know how to answer (whether I'll be back)," added the seven-times Cy Young winner.

"I thought it was over three years ago, and I've had to really come back and challenge myself to get it done."

After pitching for the US at the World Baseball Classic, Clemens took his time before deciding to return to the mound for his hometown Astros for a third season.

"You're just watching an absolute legend who's not just hanging on," said Astros manager Phil Garner.

"It's just phenomenal to watch how he manages his game, to watch how he throws and the results he gets.

"He just continues to get great results, and he can hit a little bit."
