Michael Vick made a low-key return to NFL action as Philadelphia Eagles recorded a 34-14 win over Kansas City.
The quarterback, who had not played in a regular-season game since December 2006, rushed once for seven yards and was incomplete in two pass attempts.
The 29-year-old Vick was only released from jail in May after being sentenced in 2007 to 23 months in prison for bankrolling a dog-fighting ring.
The former Atlanta Falcons player has a two-year contract with Philadelphia.
Kevin Kolb started at quarterback for the Eagles and completed 24 of 34 passes for 327 yards and two touchdowns.
Vick appeared in 11 plays in all, lining up at receiver on the first occasion then at QB, either handing off the ball or acting as a decoy on eight other plays.
"I would by lying if I said I wasn't nervous," said Vick, who spent a total of 18 months in prison.
"The whole situation causes some butterflies. It was a good thing because I was able to come out and relax.
"I thought I played fairly well."
The 29-year-old also added that he hoped to be feeling a lot more relaxed when the Eagles play Tampa Bay in two weeks.
"I won't feel like all eyes were on me like they were today," he said.
"I'm progressing. I'm not regressing, which is a big thing."
The Eagles' first-choice quarterback, Donovan McNabb, has a fractured rib but is expected back in time to face the Buccaneers after a bye week for the Eagles, with Vick continuing to play in a utility role.
