New funding for young CI athletes

Commonwealth Youth Games

Young athletes from the Channel Islands will have more opportunity to compete in future Commonwealth Youth Games.

The Commonwealth Games Committee has allocated funding for travel to four athletes and two officials of each Commonwealth nation.

Secretary of the Jersey Commonwealth Association Alan Cross told BBC Jersey: "It is to encourage all 71 Commonwealth countries to participate."

The next Youth Games are in 2011 in the Isle of Man.
